Job summary

Middlesex Community College in Lowell, MA is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator (On-Campus) to design, implement, and optimize IT platforms that support college operations. This role requires strong expertise in Windows/Linux systems, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure.

You will lead complex IT initiatives, coordinate with external vendors, and ensure secure, reliable services for internal and external stakeholders while maintaining on-site presence at the Lowell campus.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree (or higher) in a related IT field with 5+ years of enterprise systems experience.
• Minimum 5 years managing systems in a large IT environment with increasing responsibility.
• Strong ability to analyze complex issues, prioritize causes, and develop remediation plans.
• Excellent customer service orientation and end-user focus.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative technical team.
• Experience with enterprise systems management/configuration tools and PKI/Certificate lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Optimize, reconfigure, and maintain existing systems with minimal disruption.
• Manage core infrastructure services, including Active Directory and virtualization.
• Oversee VMware (vCenter, ESXi) and identity management components.
• Administer web servers (IIS, Tomcat) and load balancers.
• Coordinate with network engineers for campus-wide infrastructure.
• Design, implement, and guide multi-vendor technology platforms.
• Prepare operational documentation and knowledge base materials.
• Provide escalation support and maintain a strong service culture.
