Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent technical training in the operation of peripheral equipment, microcomputers, and local area networks supplemented with related work experience in microcomputer repair, installation and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of data processing operations, microcomputers, mainframe computer hardware configurations, and network monitoring software packages.
• Skill in operating, repairing, installing, initial configuration, and maintaining microcomputer and network equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and diagnose computer operations problems such as those encountered in the operation of the Local Area Network.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in the performance of duties; plan and schedule work; maintain professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Department's personal computers and peripherals and performs first and second level diagnosis and repairs.
• Provides technical support to users including training on Microsoft Office and remote access to Department software.
• Ensures security and integrity of the department's local network (onsite and remote) by managing passwords and access rights.
• Responds to remote-site calls, troubleshooting connectivity and software issues, and upgrading hardware and software.
• Coordinates computer deployment and maintains inventory.
• Conducts hardware/software research and provides solutions.
• Runs repair and diagnostic software on computers.
• Diagnoses and corrects network port and connection problems.
• Installs hard drives, controllers, power supplies, drives and memory.
• Provides Tier 2 Help Desk support and documents resolutions.
