Job summary

Penn State IT is seeking a motivated IT Support Specialist – Senior Support to join the Service Desk within the Science IT Department, Eberly College of Science. The role supports ~850 faculty, staff, and students across Windows, Mac, and Linux environments, and a range of devices and conferencing tools.

The position offers hybrid scheduling with on-campus presence weekly at University Park, PA, and opportunities for growth, certifications, and comprehensive Penn State benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required with 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• No required certifications specified
• Eligible to work in the U.S. as Penn State does not sponsor visas

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot system issues and provide customer-focused resolutions
• Assist with short-term IT projects and policy compliance
• Support Windows and Mac operating systems; Linux knowledge is a plus
• Develop Linux distribution support, IP address/DNS management, and endpoint management skills
• Work with BigFix, JAMF, Lansweeper, IPAM, Splashtop, and ServiceNow for service desk operations
• Take ownership of IT problems and deliver effective solutions
• Balance autonomous work with collaboration within the Science IT team
• Pursue growth, certifications, and university-wide IT networking opportunities
