Job summary

DC Public Library is seeking a Supervisory IT Specialist to lead technology operations, staff, and projects in the Office of Information Technology. You will oversee system administration, networks, and enterprise solutions to support staff and the public, ensuring secure and reliable library technology.

The role requires advanced IT leadership, strategic planning, and strong collaboration with internal departments and external partners to modernize library services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or closely related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressively responsible IT leadership and supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience in complex IT environments including infrastructure, networks, cloud, and cybersecurity.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary IT teams with workforce planning and performance management.
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise technology architecture, systems and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technology plans, business cases, and cost/benefit analyses for initiatives.
• Collaborate across departments to align technology with library programs and operations.
• Manage governance to prioritize technology projects and monitor performance against SLAs.
• Maintain reliable IT systems, network infrastructure, and vendor relationships to optimize service levels and costs.
• Advise leadership on emerging technologies and strategic technology directions.
