Job summary

Onyx Point, LLC. is seeking an experienced storage engineering professional with hands-on NetApp expertise to design, implement, and optimize large-scale storage and backup environments across data centers.

The role requires a strong background in SAN/NAS, storage networking protocols, and security hardening in federal environments. The successful candidate will lead storage architecture, install and upgrade storage hardware/software, and provide incident support while collaborating with teams

Qualifications

• Hands-on NetApp storage experience required.
• Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments.
• Strong understanding of storage networking protocols (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS/CIFS) and TCP/IP concepts.
• Familiar with security hardening (FISMA/STIG) and DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliance.
• Experience with virtualization/storage integrations (Nutanix, VMware VCF, OpenStack).
• Proficiency with Git/Gitlab; CI/CD and GitOps concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, deploy, upgrade, and support storage and backup platforms and management tools.
• Oversee installation and updates to storage hardware/software per SOPs.
• Monitor capacity, performance, and utilization; collect relevant metrics.
• Create and maintain technical diagrams, run books, and documentation.
• Provide incident support and participate in on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with engineers/architects to evaluate and deploy new technologies.
