Job summary

SAIC in Washington DC is seeking a senior IT monitoring engineer responsible for the discovery, monitoring, and management of IT infrastructure. You will utilize OpenText OBM, SiteScope, and Microsoft SCOM to provide centralized visibility, dashboards, and alerts for rapid incident response.

The role requires extensive Windows/Linux experience, SNMP/WMI proficiency, and strong scripting (PowerShell or VBScript), with ITIL foundations preferred and a background in federal/defense infra welcomed.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with enterprise monitoring across Windows and Linux servers.
• Proven ability to design and implement monitoring solutions and dashboards.
• Strong scripting skills (PowerShell or VBScript).
• Experience with multi-vendor monitoring tools and integration.
• ITIL familiarity and certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-site full-time monitoring at DOT HQ, Washington DC.
• Deploy and manage monitoring policies and management packs.
• Integrate data sources from third-party tools into OBM unified console.
• Create intuitive dashboards and proactive alerts for 24x7 operations.
• Perform event correlation, filtering, and incident triage to reduce noise.
• Collaborate across teams during outages to resolve service disruptions.
