Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking an IT Manager II for the IT / System Shared Services Unit at SCDMV Headquarters in Blythewood, SC. The role leads server engineers and admin staff, guiding Microsoft 365, Azure, and on-premises infrastructure to ensure uptime, security, and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, security awareness, and collaboration across departments, with a focus on modernization and service delivery in a government setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, information technology, mathematics, statistics, MIS, or related field.
• Experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology; substitution allowed year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Manages daily activities of the server team and collaborates with other teams.
• Uses IT ticket system to create, monitor, and close tickets; mentors and evaluates staff via EPMS.
• Oversees server infrastructure management and security with Security, Network Ops and Desktop Support.
• Provides technical direction on Microsoft products/services (Azure, O365, Exchange, DHCP, DNS, SCCM).
• Monitors performance, patching, and documentation of system configurations.
• Develops modernization roadmaps and budget forecasts for Shared Services infrastructure.
