Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking an IT Manager I to lead and manage the agency's information technology operations and teams, ensuring reliable delivery of technology services across enterprise applications, endpoints, and platforms.

The role focuses on Microsoft 365 management, infrastructure architecture, and secure operations while coordinating with departments to advance statewide technology initiatives and emergency response systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience in telecommunications, data processing, and/or information technology; relevant experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical management and support for enterprise applications, operating systems, endpoints, and peripheral devices; leads a team of infrastructure and endpoint technicians to ensure efficient delivery of technology services.
• Manages planning, configuration, testing, development, and optimization of the agency’s Microsoft 365 tenant, enterprise applications, and end-user technology; provides technical consultation and guides technology purchases.
• Manages architecture, implementation, documentation, and performance of infrastructure and platform services; over oversees network configuration, hardware maintenance, asset management, and troubleshooting; evaluates risks and remediation recommendations.
• Manages statewide infrastructure operation, support, and security to ensure reliable connectivity for servers, workstations, and critical systems; supervises staff and contracted personnel.
• Maintains 24/7 CAD systems for Pee Dee, Piedmont, and Coastal regions, ensuring timely issue resolution and system reliability; supports emergency response technologies.
• Collaborates with the Department of Administration on statewide tech initiatives, shared services, and enterprise projects; manages special projects and duties supporting agency goals.

Education

Bachelor's degree in communications, business administration, information technology, mathematics, statistics, management information science, or a related field
