Job summary

Apex Technology Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, scope, and deliver complex IT infrastructure projects for managed services clients. You will lead engineering from design through implementation, write technical scopes, and act as the senior technical authority across Microsoft, networking, and systems environments.

The role includes mentoring engineers, escalating only the most complex issues, and contributing to Apex’s engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience with systems/network engineering or infrastructure project delivery
• Deep hands-on expertise with Windows Server environments including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and Hyper-V
• Strong Microsoft 365 and Azure administration experience — Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and AzureAD
• Advanced networking knowledge — WAN/LAN, VPN, firewall configurations
• Experience writing technical scopes, project plans, or statements of work
• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer complex IT infrastructure solutions tailored to each client’s environment and risk profile
• Lead solution design across Microsoft server environments, virtualization, Azure, networking, and security
• Architect WAN/LAN, firewall configurations, VPN and remote access solutions
• Evaluate client environments to identify gaps and translate findings into actionable project designs
• Lead end-to-end delivery of infrastructure projects from kickoff through completion
• Collaborate with Project Manager, Account Manager, and vCIO to ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction
• Create detailed project scopes and maintain IT Glue documentation
• Document client environment changes and configurations thoroughly
• Provide guidance to service desk and mentor junior engineers
• Set technical standards and drive continuous improvement across engineering teams
• Maintain ticketing and documentation adherence, ensuring clear communication to clients
