Job summary

Meso Scale Diagnostics, LLC. is seeking a Principal IT Infrastructure Engineer in Rockville, MD. You will be the senior technical authority for core compute, identity infrastructure, virtualization, and containerization, setting architectural direction and handling complex escalations.

The role requires deep experience with VMware, Nutanix, Docker/Kubernetes, and hybrid on-prem/cloud architectures, plus automation and strong leadership to mentor other engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 8+ years hands-on experience engineering and administering enterprise virtualization and/or containerization platforms.
• Expert-level experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter in a production environment.
• Nutanix (AOS/AHV/Prism) experience or leading a VMware-to-Nutanix migration.
• Hands-on experience with containerization/orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS) in production.
• Experience architecting and supporting hybrid on-premises/cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and hands-on engineering of enterprise virtualization platform (VMware, Nutanix).
• Lead VMware-to-Nutanix migration planning and execution.
• Design, build, and support containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS).
• Collaborate with storage teams for virtualized/containerized workloads storage integration.
• Deploy and support Windows and Linux servers on virtualized, containerized, and physical infra.
• Develop automation/infrastructure-as-code (PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
• Lead evaluations and vendor discussions for virtualization, containerization, cloud platforms.
