Job summary

Life360 is seeking a business‑oriented IP attorney with 5+ years of experience to join our in‑house Legal team. You will manage Life360’s patent and trademark portfolios, coordinate with outside counsel, and guide transactional IP work for a fast-growing consumer software and hardware company.

You’ll report to the Deputy General Counsel for Commercial, Litigation & IP and collaborate with Finance, Product, Privacy, Engineering, and Marketing. This is a remote-friendly role within the US.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited US law school and bar admission in good standing.
• 5+ years of legal experience focusing on patent and trademark prosecution for consumer tech.
• Experience as in-house counsel at a consumer tech company is a plus.
• Strong IP counseling and contract negotiation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage patent portfolio with outside counsel and provide FTO/product clearance analysis.
• Manage trademark portfolio and identify jurisdictions for protection.
• Advise on transactional IP matters including licenses and portfolio strategy.
• Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements.
• Provide guidance on open source licenses and compliance.
• Advise on IP issues in transactions, product development, and business initiatives.
• Review social media marketing for IP and consumer protection compliance.
• Support due diligence for corporate transactions identifying IP risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal recommendations with business goals.
• Monitor developments affecting patent and trademark transactions.
