Job summary

Mattel HQ, Inc. in El Segundo seeks a Sr Counsel, IP - Content & Brands to lead global IP litigation, clearance, and registration. You will manage a portfolio of trademarks, copyrights, designs, and domain names, and work with Mattel Films to clear IP rights.

The role requires eight+ years of IP experience, strong communication, in-house background preferred, and California bar status or eligibility. This is a full-time in-office position with a flexible model and opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of experience as an IP attorney handling contentious and non-contentious matters.
• In-house experience strongly preferred.
• JD from ABA-accredited law school; good standing with state bar and California in-house registration if not CA admitted.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate IP infringements and take action, including C&D letters and litigation management.
• Manage online IP brand enforcement across marketplaces and social platforms.
• Oversee customs detentions and seizures related to IP.
• Conduct global trademark clearance, prosecution, and copyright/design registrations.
• Collaborate with content teams, including Mattel Films, to secure IP rights.
