Job summary

Meta seeks an attorney with deep experience in online intellectual property, artificial intelligence and intermediary liability issues to serve as Lead Counsel, IP Content & Product. In this role, you will tackle cutting-edge IP issues on a global scale across Meta’s family of apps, products, and services, including AI, Reality Labs, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, WhatsApp, and Messenger.

You will counsel product, engineering, operations, policy and other teams and work with outside counsel to

Qualifications

J.D. degree and bar admission in at least one state
5+ years of relevant legal experience, in-house or at a law firm
IP and related areas expertise including copyright, fair use, trademark, rights of publicity, and IP licensing
Global intermediary liability experience, including DMCA, CDA, EU Copyright Directive, and DSA
Experience with evolving global IP regulatory landscape for AI and direct/secondary liability
Counseling on IP issues relating to new technologies
Ability to assess legal, practical and business risks and provide actionable guidance
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with legal and business teams

Responsibilities

Evaluate products to provide practical, business-focused IP risk advice
Support AI product and Reality Labs expansion; lead on IP issues across Meta apps
Advise on direct and intermediary liability under copyright, trademark and data laws
Advise on AI-generated content, digital replicas, AI training, news content
Collaborate with product, engineering, operations, policy and other teams
Coordinate with global outside counsel on IP matters
