Job summary

Luxer One, Sacramento-based, seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer to own end-to-end firmware for our embedded hardware portfolio, including locker control boards and IoT gateways. You will drive architecture decisions, bring-up new hardware, and build robust OTA pipelines powering a fleet of connected devices.

You will work cross-functionally with electrical engineering and manufacturing partners, contribute to architecture docs, and use AI tools to enhance documentation, debugging, and status

Qualifications

• Five+ years of firmware or embedded software engineering experience with ownership of production IoT or connected hardware programs.
• Strong C/C++ in an embedded context with microcontrollers, peripheral drivers, RTOS, and memory management.
• Experience with wireless connectivity in embedded products—BLE, WiFi, or cellular.
• OTA update design and implementation with safe rollback and fleet deployment.
• Hardware bring-up: schematic review, debugger/logic analyzer usage, boot sequence troubleshooting.
• Ability to produce technical specifications and architecture documents.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware architecture and delivery for Luxer One's embedded hardware portfolio.
• Design and implement firmware for new hardware programs including RTOS integration.
• Build and maintain OTA update pipelines and device management.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and manufacturing partners on NPI readiness and production validation.
• Write and maintain hardware specifications and architecture docs.
• Improve reliability of devices in the field through telemetry and patching.
• Contribute to firmware quality standards with code review and automated tests.
• Use AI tools to accelerate documentation, debugging, and reporting.
