Job summary

Luxer One, Sacramento, CA, seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer to own embedded hardware programs—from hardware bring-up to production firmware and OTA updates. You will design architecture, implement firmware for locker control boards and IoT gateways, and ensure field reliability for a fleet of devices.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of firmware or embedded software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ in an embedded context with microcontrollers and RTOS.
• Experience with BLE, WiFi, or cellular connectivity.
• OTA update design and implementation with safe rollback and fleet deployment.
• Hardware bring-up, debugging with analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to produce architecture documents and specifications.
• Demonstrated AI fluency in engineering workflow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware architecture and delivery for Luxer One's embedded hardware portfolio.
• Design and implement firmware for new hardware programs: architecture decisions, bring-up, RTOS integration, production readiness.
• Build and maintain OTA update pipelines and device management integration.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and manufacturing partners on NPI readiness and production tooling.
• Write and maintain hardware specifications and ARRs; inform roadmap decisions.
• Maintain and improve reliability of devices in the field; monitor telemetry and uptime.
• Contribute to firmware quality standards: code review, CI, test coverage, and defect tracking.
• Use AI tools in workflow for documentation, debugging, reporting, and code review.
• Represent embedded systems in cross-functional planning as the technical voice on capabilities and constraints.
