Job summary

American Century Investments is seeking an Investment Management Software Engineer Senior Specialist to advance the Order, Trade, and Compliance (OTC) technology stack. You’ll work hands-on with cross-functional teams to deliver market-ready software for portfolio management, trading, and compliance.

The role emphasizes modern engineering practices, collaboration with tech leads, product owners, and architects, and delivering solutions through Agile development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on corporate software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java or similar languages (Python, C#).
• Hands-on SQL with relational databases.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with Git or other version control systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; excellent communication.
• Team player with collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Full-stack development of front-end and back-end components with seamless integration.
• Write clean, efficient code primarily in Java, with opportunities to use Python.
• Design, implement, and optimize data storage with relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle).
• Participate in SAFe Agile processes across sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Use Git/GitHub for source control and collaboration.
• Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure code quality.
• Collaborate with developers, participate in code reviews, provide feedback.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices; pursue learning opportunities.
• Support Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Compliance staff as needed.
