Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Counsel to independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation matters across lines of business. You will apply trial skills, conduct advanced research, draft substantive pleadings, and provide strategic recommendations to insured clients and partners.

The role requires 7+ years of defense litigation, a JD, and an active license, with opportunities to mentor peers and use technology to optimize outcomes. Travel is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and active license in good standing.
• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Ability to handle hearings, trials and dispositive motions; travel as needed.
• Strong written and oral advocacy with experience in jury trials.

Responsibilities

• Handle high exposure cases and complex litigation independently.
• Leverage trial experience to advocate effectively and negotiate resolutions.
• Perform advanced legal research and prepare persuasive pleadings and briefs.
• Attend court events, depositions and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and strategies to insured clients and partners.
• Coordinate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Mentor junior attorneys and support staff; share knowledge and updates.
