Job summary

The Hartford is recruiting a Senior Staff Attorney to litigate cases primarily in Queens and Nassau Counties, with remote work options in the United States. This role focuses on premises liability as well as commercial and personal motor vehicle accident cases, reporting to the Managing Attorney.

The ideal candidate will independently handle cases from inception through trial within a collegial team of experienced litigators.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice in New York State (NY bar).
• Minimum of 7 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle moderately complex and moderately high exposure litigation.
• Analyze legal and factual issues; conduct extensive research; develop defense strategies.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions and briefs with minimal supervision.
• Provide timely communications and legal advice to clients and claims partners.
• Interact with Court, clients, witnesses and co-counsel professionally.
• Ensure prompt, efficient disposition of assigned cases; prepare witnesses for trial.
• Attend CLE seminars to maintain high level of expertise.
