Job summary

Encova Insurance is seeking a Senior Coverage Attorney (Senior Claims Coverage & General Counselor). This remote/home-based or Columbus-hybrid role requires deep expertise in insurance coverage, regulatory matters, and complex litigation, guiding claims decisions enterprise-wide.

The senior attorney will coordinate with Claims, Legal, Underwriting and outside counsel, shaping coverage positions, handling disputes, and providing training to ensure compliant and sound claim outcomes.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in insurance coverage analysis, litigation, or related fields.
• Knowledge of commercial/personal lines coverage, policy interpretation, and claim handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely legal/technical guidance on complex coverage matters with business impact.
• Advise leadership on dispute resolution, bad-faith exposure, and regulatory issues.
• Serve as senior technical resource for coverage litigation and declaratory actions.
• Coordinate with Claims, Legal, underwriting, and outside counsel on strategies and budgets.
• Develop guidance, training, and playbooks to promote compliant practices.
