Job summary
Encova Insurance in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Senior Coverage Attorney to act as the Claims organization’s senior legal and technical resource for insurance coverage, claim handling practices, coverage litigation, regulatory matters, extra-contractual exposure, legal process support, and emerging legal issues.
The role provides practical guidance across all lines of business to promote timely, consistent, and technically sound claim decisions and outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of experience in insurance coverage analysis or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of insurance coverage and regulatory matters.
- Experience managing outside counsel and legal spend.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal and technical guidance on complex coverage matters.
- Analyze policy language and endorsements to advise claims leadership.
- Develop litigation strategies and coordinate with outside counsel.
- Support regulatory responses and audits.
- Train claims professionals on coverage issues.
- Monitor regulatory developments and evolving insurance law.
