Job summary

Argo Group seeks a highly capable insurance coverage and bad faith litigation specialist to join our Omaha, Chicago, or New York office. The role reports to the SVP, Claims Legal, and requires on-site work five days a week.

Responsibilities include managing coverage disputes, leading complex settlements, and advising management on strategic litigation decisions across all lines of business nationwide.

Qualifications

• Seven years' experience handling insurance coverage issues and disputes.
• J.D. from an accredited law school; litigation experience beneficial.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of insurer operations.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel ~5% and obtain licenses as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigated and non-litigated insurance coverage and bad faith claims across lines of business.
• Investigate and analyze claims to advise management on strategic positioning.
• Negotiate complex settlements, set reserves, and authorize payments within authority.
• Provide leadership and guidance to claims personnel on complex liability issues.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court hearings as company representative.
• Advise management and underwriting on nationwide trends and policy developments.
• Ensure timely progression of cases to achieve favorable financial outcomes.
