Job summary

Argo Group, a specialty insurer, is seeking a highly capable insurance coverage and bad faith litigation specialist to join our Claims Legal team in Chicago, with options for Omaha or New York offices. You will provide technical support on coverage disputes and major litigation across the US, reporting to the SVP, Claims Legal.

This on-site role requires deep expertise in policy forms (CGL, Environmental, Inland Marine, Garage, Excess/Umbrella) and strong negotiation skills to position cases for

Qualifications

• Seven+ years' experience handling insurance coverage issues and disputes.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willing to travel ~5% to meetings and hearings.
• Strong knowledge of policy forms across multiple lines (CGL, Environmental, Inland Marine, Garage, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Manage litigated and non-litigated insurance coverage and bad faith claims across lines.
• Conduct detailed investigation and analysis to advise management on strategy.
• Negotiate highly complex settlements and manage reserves.
• Provide technical leadership on liability claims with complex issues.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court hearings.
• Consult with management and underwriting on nationwide trends.
• Manage diary to ensure timely resolutions.
