Job summary

Argo Group in the United States seeks a highly capable insurance coverage and bad faith litigation specialist to join our team in Omaha, Chicago, or New York. The role reports to the SVP, Claims Legal, and provides technical support on coverage disputes and major cases assigned to Adjusters nationwide.

This is a 100% in‑office position; candidates must be able to work on-site during standard business hours at a designated office.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in insurance coverage disputes and bad faith litigation.
• Seven+ years handling insurance coverage issues for multiple lines (e.g., CGL, Environmental, Inland Marine).
• J.D. from an accredited law school; litigation experience beneficial but not required.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of insurer profitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to build relationships.
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant matters.
• Willingness to obtain required licenses and travel ~5%.

Responsibilities

• Manage coverage and bad faith claims across lines, collaborating with management and outside counsel.
• Investigate and analyze claims to advise on strategic positioning and resolution.
• Negotiate complex settlements, set reserves, and authorize payments within authority.
• Provide technical leadership to claims staff on liability claims with complex issues.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court hearings for the company.
• Counsel underwriting on trends and policy developments nationwide.
• Ensure timely diary management and move cases toward favorable outcomes.
