Job summary

Stepan Company in Millsdale, IL is hiring a Sr. Instrumentation Engineer to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of the site's instrumentation, analyzer, control valve, PLC, networking, and process control systems.

This role provides technical leadership for plant instrumentation assets and supports maintenance, operations, and capital projects. You will balance hands-on troubleshooting with longer-term reliability improvements, standardization and risk reduction, serving as the site

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of industrial instrumentation experience.
• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or manufacturing environments preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with control valves, instrumentation, industrial networks and PLC/DCS environments, capital projects, and reliability engineering.
• Preferred ISA certifications and familiarity with process safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of site instrumentation, analyzer, control valve, PLC, networking, and process control systems.
• Provide site-level ownership for instrumentation reliability, controls support, and E&I execution across operating units.
• Balance hands-on troubleshooting with longer-term reliability improvements, standardization, and risk reduction.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering, Projects and E&I personnel to improve plant reliability.
