Job summary

Stepan Company is hiring a Sr. Instrumentation Engineer at our Millsdale, IL site.

This role ensures reliability, safety, and performance of instrumentation and process control systems, providing site-level ownership and technical leadership for E&I execution across units. The position balances hands-on troubleshooting with long-term reliability improvements, standardization, and risk reduction while collaborating with Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering, and Projects teams to

Qualifications

Five years of industrial instrumentation experience.
Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refinery, manufacturing, or process industries preferred.
Demonstrated experience with control valves, process instrumentation, industrial networks and PLC/DCS, capital projects, and reliability engineering.
ISA, PIP, and applicable company engineering standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

Ensure reliability, safety, and performance of instrumentation, analyzer, control valve, PLC, networking, and process control systems.
Provide site-level ownership for instrumentation reliability and controls support.
Lead reliability improvements, standardization, and risk reduction.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering, Projects, and E&I personnel.
