Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Instrument Engineering Specialist, Principal in Houston, TX. You will lead instrument engineering assignments for complex projects, prepare specifications, perform calculations, and review vendor drawings to meet client requirements.

The role requires field experience, strong knowledge of ISA/NEC/API standards, and expertise with SPI and valve sizing tools. Occasional site visits and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in instrumentation engineering and equipment specification.
• Field experience and large multi-discipline project leadership.
• Proficient with SPI and valve sizing software.
• Knowledge of ISA, NEC, API design codes.
• Experience with instrumented control and safety systems.
• HS Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare advanced level specifications detailing client performance requirements, component needs, design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
• Prepare sketches, perform calculations, and develop analysis models for complex projects.
• Review and approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specs.
• Interact with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
• Manage schedules and budgets for assigned projects.
• Adhere to HSSE standards and safety procedures.
• Visit sites to evaluate requirements and conditions.
• Develop and review engineering drawings with drafting/design teams.
• Prepare reports, schedules, and cost estimates for projects.
