Job summary

CVR Energy's Wynnewood refinery seeks a Maintenance Instrumentation Journeyman to maintain, troubleshoot, and install instrument and automation systems. You may supervise others and work with various projects, applying safety, quality, and reliability principles.

Three+ years of industrial instrument experience are required, with refinery experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel/Word, P&ID concepts, and control systems is expected, along with the ability to adjust schedules as needed.

Qualifications

3+ years’ industrial instrument experience required
5+ years’ refinery experience preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
Knowledge of electrical one-lines, three-lines, schematics and prints
Experience with PPE for voltages up to 600V
Basic understanding of electrical and electronic instrumentation operating principles
Experience with pressure, level, flow and temperature instruments and control valves/ actuators/ positioners
Experience with digital, analog, and pneumatic controls and calibration
Familiarity with P&ID’s, loop drawings, and cascade loops
Direct experience with SCADA/PLC/Pneumatic control loops troubleshooting
Familiarity with analyzers (Gas Chromatographs, CEMS, etc)
Familiarity with Honeywell distributed control systems
Familiarity with vibration monitoring and anti-surge controls
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs/HMIs and SCADA systems
Familiarity with Ethernet IP, ModBus, RS-485 protocols
Must be able to take directions and use a computer for data entry
Fluent in English, both oral and written
Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

Responsibilities

Perform duties in compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental regulations and best practices
Manage multiple projects or issues from varied sources
Provide electrical and instrumentation support to maintain equipment safely and efficiently
Participate in project planning, including P&ID development and cause‑and‑effect analysis
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, pneumatic and process controls and new equipment
Use hand and power tools to complete tasks
Prepare and inspect the worksite at project start and clean up at end
Study blueprints or manuals to determine correct installation or operation
Communicate progress, concerns, and questions to management
Participate in preventive maintenance for continuous improvement
Keep detailed maintenance reports and documentation
Record repairs and maintenance performed
Exposure to volatile materials and chemicals
