Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design efforts for power-generation projects and oil & gas facilities. You will develop I&C deliverables, mentor engineers, and coordinate with clients and vendors across sites.

A strong background in control systems and FE/PE credentials are highly valued. The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week, with extensive collaboration in large teams and cross-functional reviews.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited program; control systems emphasis preferred.
• FE exam completed; Engineer in Training designation.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain one.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial control systems.
• Strong instrumentation and control system design knowledge and project execution.
• Experience developing I&C design deliverables: P&IDs, logic diagrams, etc.
• Strong MS Excel/Access skills; proficient with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to lead a large team.
• Willingness to travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams of I&C engineers in design of new power plants and modifications.
• Design process control systems and prepare procurement specifications for I&C equipment.
• Develop I&C design deliverables: logic diagrams, P&IDs, I/O lists, control panels.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
• Travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites for reviews and verification.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to I&C engineers.
