Job summary

SSOE, Inc. is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead design packages for cleanrooms, fab, and advanced manufacturing facilities. You will develop control system concepts, I/O lists, loop diagrams, and coordination across PLC and DCS architectures.

The role requires extensive experience, strong safety/code knowledge, and collaboration with PMs, clients, vendors, and contractors. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering design technology, drafting, or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of instrumentation and controls design in industrial environments.
• Ability to independently develop complete I&C design packages with minimal oversight.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; Navisworks familiarity.
• Strong knowledge of PLC and DCS hardware architectures and control panels.
• Familiar with electrical and fire codes, ISA standards, and safe design practices.

Responsibilities

• Independently produce complete instrumentation and controls design packages for semiconductor and advanced technology facilities.
• Develop and coordinate control system architectures for PLC and DCS-based systems.
• Interpret P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and process diagrams into coordinated deliverables.
• Prepare control narratives, sequences of operations, and cause-and-effect matrices.
• Specify field instrumentation and related accessories for high-tech manufacturing.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams in AutoCAD and Revit; use Navisworks for coordination.
• Perform engineering calculations and layout reviews for raceway sizing and panel space.
• Support QA/QC reviews, model reviews, and client design reviews for constructability.
• Coordinate with vendors to review submittals and ensure compatibility with specs.
• Respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and support construction administration.
• Conduct site walks and field observations to verify installation and address coordination issues.
• Assist with startup, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness for I&C systems.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and mentor junior staff.
