Job summary

SSOE Engineering in Scottsdale seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Designer to develop control system designs for cleanroom and advanced manufacturing facilities. You will create P&IDs, loop diagrams, control narratives, and installation details while coordinating with process, mechanical, electrical, and construction teams.

Role requires strong QA/QC discipline, field troubleshooting, and collaboration with commissioning teams to ensure safety, reliability, and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Experience designing instrumentation and control systems for semiconductor, cleanroom, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex process environments.
• Strong knowledge of control system components: sensors, transmitters, analyzers, actuators, control valves, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, building automation interfaces.
• Ability to produce and coordinate detailed engineering deliverables: P&IDs, control narratives, I/O lists, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, installation details.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrumentation and controls design deliverables for cleanroom, fab, utility, and specialty systems.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and architectural teams for integrated solutions.
• Review P&IDs, sequence of operations, instrument index, device schedules, valve and sensor selection, and control panel layouts.

Education

Associate's degree in engineering design technology or related technical field
