Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the Washington, DC area is seeking a seasoned Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer for a hybrid role, three days in the office and two remote. You will lead and support control system design and modernization projects across nuclear plants, coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to deliver on schedule.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in I&C design, ABET‑accredited engineering degree, PE license preferred, and strong communication and client

Qualifications

Requires ABET‑accredited engineering degree.
10+ years in I&C design engineering.
Professional Engineering license preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing.
Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems.
Experience as a client liaison in a support or lead role.
Experience reviewing design documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead and support small and large controls projects with focus on technical execution and project management.
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines to bring projects to completion.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve controls engineering issues.
Develop digital systems design (PLC, DCS, screens, network switches).
Prepare control system specs, vendor bid evaluations, and technical reports.
Support proposal development and client interface.
