Job summary

Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group in the Washington, DC area seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to contribute to design and modernization of nuclear power plants. This role offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two remote days, supporting the digitization of plants and work on SMR and advanced reactor projects.

This position involves collaboration across electrical, mechanical, and control systems disciplines, travel for design reviews, and field verification

Qualifications

• A BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (from an ABET accredited program) with a strong academic background and coursework in analog and digital control systems is required
• A minimum of 1 year of engineering experience or a MS degree.
• Coursework in mechatronics is desired, but not required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work on a multi-discipline engineering team involved in nuclear power plant Instrumentation and Controls projects.
• Prepare specifications for the procurement of instrumentation and control equipment as well as engineering calculations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for project coordination and field verification of designs.
• Through mentoring, classroom-style technical sessions, and on-the-job training, you will increase your knowledge and skills in your engineering discipline.
• Collaborate with electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering disciplines on projects
