Job summary

Audubon Companies seeks a Sr Instrument Designer to join the South Houston, TX office. You will design instrument equipment, components, structures, and systems and develop complete design packages along with technical calculations.

The role requires extensive CAD/PDMS experience, field work, and strong ability to read drawings and prepare BOMs. You will lead small/medium projects and collaborate with clients and vendors to ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree from a Technical Institution preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience preferred.
• AutoCAD software experience required.
• PDMS software experience preferred.
• Microsoft Office software experience preferred.
• SPI (Intools) software experience preferred.
• Field experience required.
• Experience in offshore oil & gas, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation, chemical manufacturing or refining industry required.
• Small/Medium project lead experience required.
• Large project lead experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand drawing markups to determine drafting requirements.
• Ability to utilize conventional drafting tools and CAD software to execute drafting requirements.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete design packages including preliminary and construction deliverables.
• Prepare detailed drawings of parts and assemblies with projections and specifications.
• Perform sizing and electrical load calculations as required.
• Develop control circuits for instrument components, logic controllers, and relays.
• Review and optimize instrument applications and function.
• Check drawings for project applicability and accuracy.
• Prepare BOMs and procurement lists; revise as needed due to changes.
• Utilize CAD software to create layouts and fabrication drawings.
