Job summary

You will operate steam kettles and ovens, carve and portion meals, assist with pastry items, manage stock, and occasionally deliver meals to different locations within the facility.

Qualifications

• At least one year as Assistant Cook or two years of quantity cooking for 200+ meals in large facilities.
• Experience in institutional kitchens such as hospitals or large hotels is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meats and vegetables for cooking using kitchen equipment.
• Cooks meats, fish, vegetables, soups, cereals and other foods with appropriate ovens and kettles.
• Carves meat and serves or oversees serving to trays and cafeteria patrons.
• Maintains utensils, equipment and work areas ensuring safety and sanitation standards.
• Relieves butchers and bakers; assists with recipe planning and weighing ingredients.
• Prepares dough and bakes pastries and desserts.
• Requisitions, receives, inspects and stores food; informs supervisor of supplies needed.
• May deliver food to various locations as required.
