Job summary

Alameda Health System in San Leandro is seeking a Cook to prepare hot meals and accompanyings in the hospital kitchen, following established recipes, portioning and presentation standards. Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent with cooking school training or 5 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, plus further education in cooking school; or 5 years related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for hot food preparation, including accompaniments and garnishes; follows standardized recipes, portions and presentation standards; completes and utilizes daily production worksheet and waste log sheets.
• Cooks meats, vegetables, soups, cereals and other foods using commercial equipment; prepares, serves and delivers food for catered functions meeting quality standards.
• Maintains cleaning and sanitation procedures; adheres to HACCP guidelines; participates in inventory, ordering, storage and rotation of food items.
• Orients and trains staff as applicable; communicates patient or customer issues following departmental procedures; completes logs and reports as required.
