Job summary

Gfoat in Dallas seeks an Inspector III - Multidisciplinary to perform advanced inspection, investigation, and enforcement across plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, and fuel gas systems. The role requires independent judgment and may involve plan reviews and acting as the City’s technical authority on complex projects.

Responsibilities include inspecting installations, evaluating contractor work, issuing notices and citations, testifying when needed, and guiding customers on codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Four years of general plumbing and mechanical experience.
• Current Journeyman Plumber License (or higher) from TSBPE required.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must obtain Plumbing Inspector License within probationary period.
• ICC Residential or Commercial Mechanical Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, and fuel gas equipment and systems.
• Investigate code violations and determine correction measures.
• Issue notices of violation, citations, or closures; perform follow-ups.
• Provide guidance to customers on codes and regulatory requirements.
• Testify during hearings or trials when required.
• Review plans for compliance; inspect construction sites.
• Verify contractor invoicing and review permits.
• Review construction plans for compliance and issue tags.
• Provide training to stay current on trends and regulations.
• Stay updated on new materials and changes in codes.
• Write citations to correct violations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
