Office of Public Response in Dallas seeks an Inspector III - Multidisciplinary responsible for specialized inspection and enforcement of plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, and fuel gas standards.

You will inspect complex projects, review plans, issue notices, and provide guidance to contractors and the public, acting as the city's technical authority.

Requires Journeyman license, four years of plumbing/mechanical experience, and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Four years of general plumbing and mechanical experience.
  • Must hold a Journeyman Plumber License (or higher) issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE).
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Must obtain Plumbing Inspector License issued by TSBPE within probationary period.
  • International Code Council Residential or Commercial Mechanical Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect plumbing, mechanical, irrigation, and fuel gas equipment and systems on complex projects.
  • Investigate violations of codes and determine corrective measures.
  • Issue notices of violation, citations, or closures and conduct follow-up inspections.
  • Provide information to customers and serve as expert on regulatory codes.
  • May provide testimony during hearings and trials.
  • Review construction plans for code compliance and verify permits.
  • Keep records of materials and daily activities and advise contractors.
