UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder/Acute Edits and Denials Claims Analyst to work remotely within the United States. The role focuses on correcting inpatient coding, acute edits, MUEs, and denial reviews to ensure accurate code assignment and billing.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree is required.
• 2+ years of Coding experience.
• 2+ years of Acute Care inpatient medical coding experience (hospital, facility, etc.)
• Credentials: AHIMA and/or AAPC (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC) or CIC/AHIMA/RHIA/RHIT etc., must be maintained annually.

Responsibilities

• Work acute inpatient hospital claim edits, denials, 3-day rule combines and other secondary work queues.
• Recodes medical records to satisfy the claims, edits, and denials using coding classifications.
• Analyzes medical records to ensure accurate coding and provide provider feedback to improve documentation.
• Collects and abstracts data elements.
• Assists customers with unbilled and incomplete records.
• Identifies areas for improvement in high compliance risk coding areas.
• Collaborates with departments on charging and documentation requirements.
