Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a seasoned Coding Auditor to ensure accurate clinical coding for optimal reimbursement and data integrity. You will audit, educate, and support coding staff, aligning practices with AHIMA and CPT/ICD-10-CM guidelines.

A strong knowledge of reimbursement policies and 3M tools is essential. The ideal candidate has hospital coding experience, RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC or AHIMA/AAPC certs, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC or AHIMA/AAPC coding certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts regular coding audits and coordinates ongoing monitoring of coding accuracy, providing continuous feedback to coding staff.
  • Develops and coordinates educational sessions for coding staff regarding documentation and accurate coding.
  • Serves as a resource for coding staff on organization-wide coding and documentation standards and guidelines.
  • Designs audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding.
  • Keeps abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
  • Conducts trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices.
  • Adheres to AHIMA standards and official coding guidelines.
  • Promotes professional growth and development within the department.
