Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a Coding Specialist III to code and verify inpatient data, ensuring accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, HCC and modifier usage for professional and hospital billing.

The role supports remote work in TX, AR, WI and FL with strong leadership responsibilities and ongoing credential maintenance. A 3-year acute care coding background is required.

Qualificações

• 3 years of coding experience in an acute care Level I trauma hospital.
• Experience with physician office coding, charging, and billing preferred.
• Must be certified through AHIMA or AAPC per Parkland requirements.
• Must score a minimum of 85% on a pre-employment inpatient/outpatient coding test.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG classification.

Responsabilidades

• Assigns principal and secondary diagnosis and procedures for inpatient encounters to ensure correct DRG assignment.
• Maintain 95% accuracy on quality reviews and meet productivity standards.
• Abstract data from medical records for billing per Parkland guidelines.
• Coach coders on ICD-10-CM/PCS conventions and provide chart feedback.
• Improve workflow and customer satisfaction; communicate issues to supervisor.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to clarify records and obtain missing information.
• Maintain knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines affecting coding and billing.
• Audit error reports and submit productivity logs as required.
• Stay current with coding developments by attending workshops and reading journals.
• Maintain CE hours and renew coding credentials.
