Job summary

Centra Health in Lynchburg seeks an Hospital Inpatient Coding Specialist to assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes for APR-DRG or MS-DRG reimbursement. The role emphasizes accuracy and adherence to Centra’s coding policies and guidelines.

You will collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist to abstract relevant information, ensuring data integrity and proper documentation while formulating provider queries when needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One or more of RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA certifications.
• Minimum 2 years acute care inpatient coding experience.
• Experience coding across multiple hospital specialties; remote coding preferred.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS with competency assessments.
• Knowledge of RPPS, DRG methodologies, SOI, ROM.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes for APR-DRG or MS-DRG reimbursement.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist to ensure accuracy.
• Abstract pertinent information per established guidelines and formulate provider queries to clarify information.
