Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an experienced Revenue Cycle Coder III-Inpatient Coding to lead coding accuracy and CDI practices across the health system. You will design comprehensive education programs, onboard staff, and conduct targeted training while ensuring regulatory compliance and DRG accuracy.

You will collaborate with CDI specialists, physicians, clinical quality, and patient financial services to uphold data integrity and coding excellence across inpatient medical records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years acute care coding or an Associate's Degree in HIM/RHIT.
• CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification.
• 3+ years recent acute care coding experience in a large multi-facility setting.
• Experience coding complex cases including major trauma, CV, orthopedic, and neurosurgery, preferably in a Level I/II trauma or teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assigns codes from ICD classification systems for inpatient accounts and creates MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments per guidelines and compliance plan.
• Abstract additional data elements as identified enterprise-wide, such as administrative codes.
• Code all service lines of inpatient accounts.
• Communicate effectively, stay organized, and manage time efficiently.
• Maintain ethical coding standards per AAPC/AHIMA and meet performance expectations for quality and productivity.
