Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Senior Classification Officer at Putnam Correctional Institution to assess and classify inmates, develop management plans, and supervise housing and program placements for safe, effective rehabilitation.

Qualifications

• Possess two (2) years of Classification Officer experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress, set positive adjustment goals, and motivate inmates to achieve them.
• Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services to meet inmate and departmental needs.
• Evaluate information from reports, interviews, and observations to inform inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other applications; compile and develop records as needed.
• Lead disciplinary hearings, make custody and reclassification recommendations, and oversee special-status inmate reviews; ensure gain time is awarded when eligible.
