Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a Classification Officer at Florida Women’s Reception Center within the Classification department. This open competitive Career Service role reports to the appropriate supervisory unit and requires on-site presence.

Responsibilities include managing inmates through a collaborative case-management approach, conducting assessments, coordinating referrals for programs and services, and maintaining precise records in OBIS.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, rules, and procedures.
• Experience with OBIS or related computer programs.
• Experience with Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress and develop management plans.
• Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services.
• Evaluate information sources to inform inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate inmate records in OBIS and other necessary applications.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and custody recommendations, including gain time awards.
