Job summary

We Never Walk Alone is seeking a Classification Officer at the South Florida Reception Center to assess and classify inmates and coordinate housing and programs. The role requires experience with case management, data review, and applying laws, with OBIS and Microsoft Office proficiency.

It is a non-telework, on-site position serving the Florida Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include leading hearings, developing management plans, coordinating referrals, and ensuring accurate

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training in OBIS or related computer programs.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint.
• Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests, or other correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress, set positive adjustment goals, and motivate inmates to achieve them. Develop comprehensive inmate management plans and identify needs and risks.
• Planning and coordinating targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services to meet inmate and departmental needs.
• Evaluating diverse information sources to make informed decisions on inmate management.
• Maintaining accurate inmate records in OBIS and other necessary applications. Compile and develop records as needed.
• Leading disciplinary hearings, making custody and reclassification recommendations, and handling special status inmate reviews.
