Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Classification Officer for the South Florida Reception Center. This on-site position supports housing, programs, and safety by conducting inmate assessments and ensuring effective rehabilitation and management.

Responsibilities include coordinating referrals, evaluating information for decisions, maintaining OBIS records, leading hearings, and recommending custody actions. Four of six qualifications or a bachelor’s degree are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management using assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation.
• Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, or proofreading data.
• Experience applying laws, rules, and procedures.
• Experience or training with OBIS and related programs.
• Experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic and unscheduled inmate progress assessments and develop management plans.
• Plan and coordinate referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services.
• Evaluate sources of information to inform inmate management decisions.
• Maintain accurate OBIS records and compile reports as needed.
• Lead disciplinary hearings and make custody/reclassification recommendations.
