Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking a poly cleared Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to join our infrastructure team at a customer site near College Park, MD. You will develop and maintain software that underpins research environments, integrating capabilities into new or modified systems to improve reliability and enable rapid prototyping through disciplined software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced degree preferred for higher seniority.
• Strong software development experience in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain research infrastructure software for complex systems.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified environments ensuring compatibility and performance.
• Handle design, implementation, testing, verification, and deployment of prototype and operational software.
• Build automation, tooling, and CI/CD workflows to accelerate development and reliability.
• Work in Linux-based development and runtime environments; script and troubleshoot at OS/app layers.
• Collaborate with researchers to prototype and transition solutions to operations.
• Support networked systems and software interacting with networking stacks and data flows.
• Interface with customer stakeholders to coordinate priorities and progress.
• Direct subcontractor tasks and ensure integration and quality standards.
• Produce clear design notes, build/deploy instructions, test evidence, and runbooks.
