Job summary

Peraton Labs in Maryland is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to join our infrastructure team supporting advanced R&D efforts at a customer site. You will develop and maintain software that underpins complex research environments by integrating existing capabilities into new or modified systems and environments, improving reliability and performance.

This full-time, on-site role is based at a customer site near College Park, MD, and requires hands-on work in a highly secure

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience and a Bachelors, 4+ years and a Masters, or 2+ years and a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline (or 10 years total with alternative).
• Software development experience with the building and integration of applications/services in complex environments.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and at least one of C/C++, Java, or Go.
• Familiarity with secure development practices in restricted environments.
• Knowledge of Git/GitHub/GitLab, Agile, and CI tooling (Jenkins).
• Strong problem-solving ability and quick learning in research settings.
• Strong communication skills to explain issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain research infrastructure software in complex systems.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified environments with quality and performance.
• Contribute across the software lifecycle from design to deployment.
• Build automation, tooling, and CI/CD workflows to accelerate development.
• Work in Linux-based environments with scripting and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with researchers to prototype and transition solutions to operations.
• Support networked systems interacting with networking stacks and data flows.
• Interface with customer stakeholders to coordinate priorities and progress.
• Monitor subcontractor tasks and ensure integration and quality standards.
• Produce design notes, build/deploy instructions, test evidence, and runbooks.
