Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer to join Peraton Labs on-site near College Park, MD. You will develop and sustain research infrastructure software, integrate existing capabilities, and improve reliability and performance while enabling rapid prototyping through disciplined software engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a BS, 4+ years with a MS, or 2+ years with a Ph.D. in CS or related discipline; alternative 10 years total experience for no degree
• Software development experience with building and integrating applications/services in complex environments
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and at least one of C/C++, Java, or Go
• Familiarity with secure development practices in restricted environments
• Knowledge of Git/GitHub/GitLab, Agile development, and CI tooling such as Jenkins
• Strong problem-solving ability and ability to learn quickly in research settings
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain research infrastructure software for complex systems
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems ensuring compatibility and performance
• Contribute across the software lifecycle from requirements to deployment
• Build and improve automation, tooling, and CI/CD workflows
• Work in Linux-based development environments and perform OS/application scripting
• Collaborate with researchers to iterate prototypes and transition viable solutions to operations
• Support networked systems and software interfacing with networking stacks and data pipelines
• Coordinate with customer stakeholders to align priorities and progress
• Produce technical documentation including build/deploy notes and runbooks
