Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our team to deliver high-quality engineering, implementation, and support for Windows, virtualization, storage, SQL Server, and cloud infrastructure across on-premises and Azure.

The role requires strong leadership in design, resilience, and incident management, including acting as the SQL SME, coordinating DR/runbooks, and creating robust documentation to institutionalize expertise across the team.

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Primary owner — Azure: administer and support the firm’s Azure estate; lead workload migrations from on-premises to Azure.
• SQL Server platform end-to-end ownership: installation, patching, Always On, backups, recovery testing.
• VMware and VMware SRM administration and DR planning across sites.
• Storage administration for Pure Storage and HPE 3PAR arrays; firmware lifecycle and replication.
• Dell server hardware lifecycle and vendor coordination.
• Monitoring with SolarWinds, alert tuning and reduction of alert noise.
• Certificate lifecycle management and renewal calendars.
• Active Directory and Exchange On-Premises support as secondary owner.
• Escalation point for major incidents; drive root cause analysis and publish RCA.
• Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022; in-place upgrades and failover clustering.
• Azure administration, PaaS/IaaS, migrations to Azure; on-prem and cloud workloads.
